Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Tonite Gonzalez-Collins is an Mexican American broadcaster. She is an ESPN anchor for news and also hosts SportsNation occasionally. In 2016, she was a part of ESPN. She is the daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a TV reporter. Antonietta is a native bilingual. Since she was nine years old, her ability to converse in two languages helped her get the job she wanted in Miami as an assistant production at Univision. Her next job was as an Sports Reporter for the CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. In 2009, she relocated to Rio Grande Valley, Texas for work as an investigative reporter for the Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. The stories she wrote about covered immigration drugs, immigration, as well as various other topics on the Texas and Mexico border. They moved at some point towards Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born on November of 1985. She also has a younger sibling. Her family relocated from Mexico to Miami in 1992 following the departure from Mexico. In 1992, her parents separated and shortly afterward in 1995 she remarried Fabio Fajardo who was a naval engineer who passed away in 2006 due to kidney cancer. She stayed with her family in Canton Ohio with her older sister in the summertime, where she had been offered the opportunity of a job. Antonietta still a senior at high school and was clear about the career she wanted to pursue. When she was deciding whether Mount Union would be a good fit to her needs, Antonietta went to visit the school. The campus was stunning and offered the degree she sought. She completed her schooling and was admitted to the university as a major of media studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who was also WRMU's 91.1FM station, where she was employed for many years, became her friend. Mark Bergmann inspired her to believe in herself and his passion for journalism deeply influenced her. She determined to meet the expectations of him and not fail him.
